Part of Campbell of Stonefield Papers

My Lord
I am just now honoured with Your Graces letter of 30th June and beg leave to Embrace the earliest opportunity of returning my most sincere acknowledgements for the Uninvited favour you are pleased to Express towards me, and sure I am had Colin Campbell any pretensions he would chearfully [sic] resign them in favour of Major Donald Campbell who is so justly Entitled to your Graces Protection, and whose being provided must give General Satisfaction to the County.
Colin Campbell is at present in Employment and your Graces goodness in saying you will remember him in his own proper line in infinitely more than he is entitled to Expect and shall ever be most Gratefully acknowledged by
Your Grace’s Most Devoted and Most Obedient Servant
Wa Campbell
