History

The 10th Duke's Trust came into existence on his death on 20th August 1949 and as he decided his Trustees should hold his interests 'in liferent for the respective Dukes of Argyll until a Duke born after his death succeeds when the Trustees are to convey to such Duke absolutely'. (Memorandum dated Nov 1950) Consequently, following the death of the 12th Duke on 12th April 2001, the Trustees commenced legal formalities to convey their interests in the Argyll Estates to Torquhil, 13th Duke of Argyll and these were completed on 25th July 2012.
